Shooting Spree Down California Freeway Leaves 3 Dead

Could we have one day without a shooting? Really, is it too much to ask for? One day??

According to police reports, at least three people are dead in a series of shootings along two Southern California freeways. Police got their first call at about 5:20am from a home in the Tustin area, where they found one woman’s body. The suspect, a man in his 20s, fled in an SUV

Since then, police have found five other scenes in the Tustin and Villa Park areas, including one near a 5 Freeway exit and two near the 55 Freeway; NBC Los Angeles described three of the scenes as carjackings.

The AP describes the events as “a chaotic 25-minute shooting spree that moved from street to freeway.” The exact sequence of events and number of victims remains murky. The Tustin police supervisor tells the AP that the shooter killed himself, and an Orange County Sheriff’s Department spokesperson says “there are no other shooters and there is no threat to the community.” Traffic on the southbound 55 Freeway has slowed as police investigate.
