So, does Tiger Woods make things more interesting from a betting perspective when he is entered in a golf tournament or less interesting?

Well, get used to Tiger, because he is expected to play the next three weeks on the , beginning with this week’s in Michigan. Of course it’s Tiger’s first event since shockingly missing the cut at the British Open. But naturally Tiger is the overwhelming favorite this week at +135 on WagerWeb.com.

Actually, because he struggled so much at the British Open and wants to be very ready for the PGA Championship in a few weeks, Woods decided to enter this tournament, which was a change in plans. He has not finished worse than 11th at this event in his career – Woods won at Warwick Hills in 2002 and ‘06 and tied for second in ‘03 and ‘05.

Since returning from knee surgery in February, Woods has played in 10 events, with three victories and eight top-10 finishes. He has played back-to-back events just once, finishing fourth at the Quail Hollow Championship, then eighth the following week at The Players Championship.

The last time Woods played in three straight events was during the 2007 FedEx Cup playoffs.

Kenny Perry shot 269 to win by one stroke last year over Woody Austin and Bubba Watson. It was Perry’s second win, but he is unable to defend his title this week and has returned home in Kentucky to be with his mother, who is suffering from cancer.

Jim Furyk (+1100 on WagerWeb.com) hasn’t won in two years, but he was the champ in ‘03 and has eight top-10s in 14 starts here. He has top-10s in four of his last six starts.

Justin Leonard is the third-favorite on WagerWeb.com at +2200. He arrives off a top-10 finish at the British Open and finished T2 at the Buick in 2007.

If you are looking for a long-shot bet, try Austin (+3300 on WagerWeb.com). He has missed the cut in his two most recent starts but has two seconds and a seventh in his last three trips here. He also won this tournament way back in 1995.

Scott Verplank is another good long-shot bet. He won the in 1988 and has finished in the top 25 eight times in the last nine years.

Warwick Hills ranked 46th (out of 54 courses) in difficulty on the in 2008 and the winning score since 2000 averages around 20 under par.

This likely will be the final , with GM announcing it planned to stop its sponsorship of this event. The tournament is expected to announce a new name and sponsor in the next few weeks, however.
