Mickelson should return to PGA Tour next week
Great news for golf bettors on WagerWeb.com and fans of the sport in general: World No. 2 Phil Mickelson is expected to return to the PGA Tour next week as well as compete in the upcoming U.S. Open.
Of course Lefty took a bit of a sabbatical from the Tour because his wife, Amy, was undergoing treatment for breast cancer.
According to Golf Digest, Mickelson will be playing because of Amy’s recent test results and the fact that her planned surgery won’t take place until late June or early July — a fact which could mean he has to miss the British Open at Turnberry on July 16-19.
However, Lefty is set to get back in the swing of things next weekend at the St. Jude Classic in Memphis.
And of course the U.S. Open at Bethpage Black in New York is the following week.

The three-time major winner has never won the U.S. Open, but owns a record-tying four runner-up finishes in the event and has always been a fan favorite in New York. He finished second to Tiger Woods in the 2002 Open at Bethpage and no doubt will be the second betting favorite on WagerWeb.com to Woods this year. The two went head-to-head in a memorable final-round pairing at this year’s Masters as they tried to catch the leaders on Sunday.
If Mickelson plays at Bethpage, it will be his 61st consecutive start in major championships, the longest current streak on the PGA Tour.
Mickelson had been scheduled to play the past two weeks – the Byron Nelson Invitational and the Crowne Plaza Invitational at Colonial, where he was defending champion – before his tour schedule was interrupted with the news of Amy’s diagnosis. He probably would have played in this week’s Memorial Tournament as well; Tiger is entered this week.
