NFL Week 16 odds: Buffalo at Miami

It’s two teams playing out the string – for yet another season – as Buffalo meets Miami on Sunday. When they met in Buffalo last month, the Bills won 19-14 as Buffalo RB C.J. Spiller had 130 scrimmage yards & CB Leodis McKelvin a 79-yard punt return for a score. The Bills defense limited Miami to 184 total yards.

Buffalo enters off a 50-17 blowout to Seattle in Toronto. Ryan Fitzpatrick completed 21-of-38 passes for 217 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions for the Bills (5-9), who played a regular- season game in Toronto for a fifth straight season. C.J. Spiller carried the ball 17 times for 103 yards and a score for Buffalo, which was mathematically knocked out of playoff contention for a 13th consecutive season — the NFL’s longest active drought. Stevie Johnson caught eight passes for 115 yards and a touchdown.

The Dolphins beat Jacksonville 24-3. Rookie Ryan Tannehill threw a pair of touchdown passes and former Miami starter Chad Henne struggled in his return to Sun Life Stadium. He left as a free agent to sign with Jacksonville in March and the Dolphins selected Tannehill with the eighth overall pick in the draft. Tannehill won the job in a training camp battle with Matt Moore and has led the Dolphins (6-8) to as many wins as they had all of last year. Tannehill completed 22-of-28 passes for 220 yards without an interception and also ran for 52 yards on eight carries. Reggie Bush added 104 yards on the ground for Miami, which dominated for most of the second half and scored the game’s final 24 points. The Dolphin defense also stopped the Jaguars three times on fourth down inside Miami territory.

The Dolphins had one of their most impressive offensive outings (180 yards rushing, 209 yards passing) in their Week 15 beatdown of the Jaguars. Seattle crushed Buffalo last weekend with the Bills’ defense giving up several big plays on the ground as well as through the air. Miami has improved its execution in recent weeks and is tough to defend when there is a balanced approach with its play calling. Look for offensive coordinator Mike Sherman to rush the football with Bush while mixing in high-percentage passes for his rookie quarterback on early downs.
