Jacksonville Jaguars (4-4) at New York Jets (4-4)

13 November 2009 72 views No Comment

This game has one thing none of the others do in the NFL this week: two 4-4 teams. The Jaguars seem to have righted their ship, but David Garrard hasn’t been good on the road this season. In four road games, Garrard has yet to throw a touchdown and has tossed two interceptions – thus Jacksonville is 1-3 away from home. At home, Garrard has six TDs and three picks. When Garrard has a 100-plus rating as a starter all-time, the Jaguars are 15-4.

The Jags have alternated wins and losses in their last five games. Jacksonville is 4-0 when scoring 20+ points this season and 0-4 when failing to score at least 20. New York’s opponents have scored just nine offensive touchdowns in 2009 — the fewest allowed by any team in the league this season.

The Jets’ rushing attack is No. 1 in NFL, averaging 177.6 yards per game, and leads the league with 295 attempts. RB Thomas Jones can tie a team record with his fourth straight 100-yard rushing game. Jones ranks eighth in NFL with 704 yards rushing. The Jags have a good one of their own in Maurice Jones-Drew, who ranks sixth in NFL with 737 yards rushing and leads league with 11 TDs, including six in the last three games.

New York had last week off and has won three straight following their scheduled bye and is 11-9 all-time after taking the week off. Obviously none of those were under Rex Ryan, and the Jets have lost four of five overall – the lone win was over a terrible Oakland team.
