Eagles’ McNabb, Westbrook will be back vs. Bucs

The bye week seemed to come at a good time for the Philadelphia Eagles, as the players got last week off to heal. And when the team returned to practice Monday, both quarterback and running back Brian Westbrook were participating.

The practice was closed to reporters, but the team confirmed the quarterback had practiced for the first time since suffering a fractured rib in the opener against Carolina.

“I feel pretty good,” McNabb said. “After the bye week, I was able to do a lot of different things in practice as well as preparing for the game. The key for me is to get that timing back to where we had it in training camp as well as in preseason. . . . And I think as an offense, we have to keep this thing rolling.”

Thus Sunday’s game against Tampa Bay – bet on it at WagerWeb.com — should be the first time that McNabb and Michael Vick play together. Both former No. 2 QB Kevin Kolb and Vick acknowledged that sitting behind an established starter is less than ideal. It’s hard to know if Vick’s Wildcat role will be as extensive now that McNabb is back. Vick took 11 snaps against the Chiefs for a total of seven yards rushing and was 0-for-2 passing. Kolb, meanwhile, became the first quarterback to ever throw for more than 300 yards in both of his first two starts (the Eagles were 1-1), but he may not see the field again for a while.

“I mean, I’m sure it will be somewhat difficult,” Kolb said. “My job was to come in for these two weeks. And that will be my job in the future.”

As for Westbrook, he missed the Eagles’ Week 3 win over Kansas City with a sprained right ankle. In the first two games, Westbrook has 116 rushing yards and 22 receiving yards and one touchdown. With LeSean McCoy stepping up in his absence (84 yards and a score vs. the Chiefs), those two will be sharing carries now.
