Dallas Cowboys (6-2) at Green Bay Packers (4-4)

14 November 2009 78 views No Comment

These two teams are going in opposite directions, as the Cowboys have won four straight, their longest winning streak since seven straight in 2007. Green Bay has lost two in a row, including to winless Tampa Bay last week. The Packers have allowed 38 points for two weeks in a row – the franchise has never allowed 38+ points in three straight games.

Dallas has taken off since WR Miles Austin moved into the starting lineup. To start the year, he was behind starters Roy Williams and Patrick Crayton and split time with fellow backup Sam Hurd. Since becoming a starter in Week 5, however, Austin has 22 catches for 531 yards and seven touchdowns.

Tony Romo threw for 307 yards vs. the Eagles last Monday and now has four 300-yard performances in 2009 overall. Romo has a won 13 straight games in November (13-1 career record in November overall) and has 37 touchdowns, 10 interceptions and a 115.9 rating in 17 games in the month of November. He faces a Green Bay pass defense ranked eighth.

It’s almost time to feel sorry for Packers QB Aaron Rodgers, as he was sacked six more times last week by the Bucs. Rodgers has now gone down 37 times. At that rate, Rodgers will threaten David Carr’s record for most times sacked in a season (76). Rodgers could be running for his life all day from Dallas pass-rushing stud DeMarcus Ware.

The Cowboys have won three of the past four in this series. Last year they won 27-16 at Lambeau Field. In that one, Marion Barber rushed for 142 yards and TD and Felix Jones adding 76 yards and TD. Austin had 115 yards receiving and TD.
