Two Buckeyes starters out vs. Purdue
Ohio State running back Dan Herron, who left Sunday’s Wisconsin game after reaggravating his left ankle injury, will miss Saturday’s game against Purdue and could be out longer. Brandon Saine will start for a third straight game, backed up by freshman Jordan Hall.
Herron originally sustained the injury Sept. 26 against Illinois and sat out the following week at Indiana.
He returned last Saturday but had only two carries for eight yards before leaving the game. Herron started Ohio State’s first four contests this season.
“We probably got set back a week or two,” Ohio State head coach Jim Tressel said Tuesday.
Starting defensive tackle Dexter Larimore will miss a second game. But offensive lineman Andrew Miller (flu) and Jim Cordle (ankle) are expected to return, though possibly in limited roles. Miller missed the last two games with the flu, while Cordle has been sidelined three games with an ankle injury.
