The season is on the line for the Oklahoma Sooners this weekend in Dallas for the annual Red River Rivalry game with . An OU loss all but assures no BCS bowl and no Big 12 title this season, so the Sooners could use all the help they can get against the unbeaten Longhorns, who are 3.5-point betting favorites on WagerWeb.com.

Leading Sooners WR , who was thought out for at least a few more weeks after getting hurt (broken scapula) in the Miami game, could be back Saturday. OU coach Bob Stoops says only that Broyles “has not been ruled out” for the game against No. 3 .

Despite missing the better part of two games, Broyles is still the Sooners’ leading receiver with 23 catches for 346 yards and seven touchdowns. He has yet to play much this season with Heisman winner Sam Bradford, who just returned from his own injury last week against Baylor.

After continued evaluation throughout the week, Stoops expects to make an announcement about Broyles’ availability on Friday.

“I’m not much on hiding anything,” Stoops told reporters after practice. “You have to see how much work and what they’re able to handle. But I would anticipate him being able to.”

The Sooners need him, having dropped 11 passes, including three receptions in the Baylor end zone in the Sooners’ 33-7 triumph over the Bears. Broyles did practice on Monday.

“It would mean a lot to get him back,” said OU’s Mossis Madu. “He brings a lot of leadership to the field and goes out there and makes plays.”

One player who will be missing Saturday will be left guard Brian Simmons. Simmons suffered a knee injury during the second half of Saturday’s game against Baylor.
