Ohio State Buckeyes (1-1) vs. Toledo Rockets (1-1)

Here’s another one of those potential trap games this weekend, as No. 11 Ohio State faces Toledo in a neutral-site game in Cleveland.

The Buckeyes are 20.5-point favorites on WagerWeb.com.

Ohio State is bound to suffer a bit of a letdown in the wake of letting last week’s huge game with Southern Cal get away. And OSU suffered a key injury as well, as starting right tackle Jim Cordle, the most experienced offensive lineman on the team, will miss the next three to four weeks with an ankle injury.

Coach Jim Tressel was unsure if Cordle was injured in the Buckeyes’ 18-15 loss to No. 3 Southern California last Saturday night. He said Cordle, a fifth-year senior who has started the past three seasons, had complained of pain in his ankle and it got steadily worse.

It might be hard for Ohio State  not to be overconfident in this game as well, considering the school hasn’t lost to another team from the state in 88 years and has won 25 of 26 games all-time against MAC schools.

Toledo, meanwhile, comes off a very impressive win last Friday over Colorado. QB Aaron Opelt had four TD passes last week as the Rockets put up 54 points on the Buffs. Opelt is third in the nation with 742 passing yards and has thrown seven touchdowns passes. He leads the nation in total offense. Toledo’s Stephen Williams, the team’s best receiver who played sparingly vs. Colorado due to injury, is expected to play this Saturday. RB Morgan Williams is also back in the lineup following a two-game suspension.

Ohio State is of course led by QB Terrelle Pryor. He thrown for 351 yards and rushed for 66 through two games. Sophomore running back Dan Herron leads the ground game with 116 yards.

This is the second meeting between the schools. Toledo is 5-13 vs. the Big Ten, but all five of those wins have come in the last 11 games. The Rockets won at Michigan last year.
