Michigan starting over again at QB
The massive turnover in Ann Arbor under Rich Rodriguez has continued, with 2008 starting quarterback Steven Threet transferring from Michigan.
Threet enrolled early at Georgia Tech in 2007 but transferred to Michigan before fall camp that season – that was when Lloyd Carr and his pro-style offense were still in Ann Arbor. After sitting out the 2007 season, Threet started eight games for the Wolverines as a redshirt freshman in 2008. The Michigan native completed 102 of 210 passes for 1,105 yards and nine touchdowns last season.
Threet missed two of Michigan’s final three games with a shoulder injury. He didn’t play at Minnesota and didn’t make the trip to Ohio State. If he transfers to another FBS school, Threet will have to sit out yet another sesaon.
“I have requested and received my release,” Threet said. “I do not yet know where I will continue my college career and will have no further comment until that decision is made.”
Nick Sheridan started Michigan’s other four games but didn’t show much, either. Junior David Cone is the only other experienced quarterbacks on the roster. So that means that probably one of two incoming freshmen, Tate Forcier or Denard Robinson, will start the season opener on Labor Day weekend against a pretty good Western Michigan team. Forcier might have an edge because he’s already on campus. Both Forcier and Robinson, who arrives this summer, are more suited to run Rodriguez’s spread offense than either Threet or Sheridan were.

Yet Threet’s decision to leave had nothing to do with existing team personnel or incoming recruits, according to his father (yeah right).
The Wolverines went a school-worst 3-9 and missed a bowl game for the first time in 34 years. Rodriguez has been non-committal about Threet since before the season ended, refusing to even name who will take the first snap with the starting offense when spring practice begins next month.

Competion was not the reason Threet decided to transfer.

It sounds like you’re creating problems yourself by trying to solve this issue instead of looking at why their is a problem in the first place
