Apparently . will have to wait until 2010 for his potential shot at current boxing pound-for-pound king Manny Pacquiao, who has agreed to terms for a Nov. 14 showdown with Miguel Cotto for a share of the welterweight title.

The bout will be televised on HBO pay-per-view.

Promoter Bob Arum confirmed the bout would be at 145 pounds, two below the welterweight limit. Cotto, who owns a share of the welterweight crown along with Shane Mosley, gave the final OK last week.

Pacquiao did so over the weekend.

“Both sides have agreed to the terms,” said Arum, whose Top Rank Inc. promotes both fighters. “Now we’re sending out formal contracts.”

Cotto (34-1, 27 KOs), a titleholder at 147 pounds, had agreed to drop below the welterweight limit for the fight. Pacquiao, the 140-pound junior welterweight champion, wanted him to come all the way down to 143 pounds. Cotto refused. Ultimately, they agreed on a 145-pound maximum weight.

The 30-year-old Pacquiao (49-3-2, 37 KOs), the national hero of the Philippines, scored a knockout of Ricky Hatton to win the junior welterweight title on May 2. The victory gave Pacquiao a world championship in a record-tying sixth weight division. In his only fight at welterweight, the Filipino, who began his career at 106 pounds, stopped Oscar De La Hoya in eight rounds in December.

Against the Golden Boy, Pacquiao only weighed 142 lbs and against Hatton he tipped the scales at 138. Pacquiao had been pushed hard to accept a fight at 140 pounds against another welterweight champ, Shane Mosley, but instead accepted the deal with Cotto. Pacquiao also had wanted his next fight staged on Oct. 17 but Arum said that would run against the World Series schedule and pushed the date to Nov. 14. Cotto, 28, of Puerto Rico, is coming off a split decision victory in a title defense against Joshua Clottey on June 13.

This could be considered as fight of the year and whoever wins this fight will be the one who will shut up mayweather’s dirty mouth.
