Thursday MLB: San Francisco Giants (42-35) at St. Louis Cardinals (42-38)
The surging Giants can take three of four in St. Louis with a victory in the final regular-season meeting between the teams.
But St. Louis is a -137 money line favorite tonight on WagerWeb.com.
And if you want to make any individual player prop bets, bet on Cards slugger Albert Pujols to do some damage tonight. Pujols, who leads the majors with 30 homers and 77 RBIs, and is third in the NL with a .337 average, is hitting a sick .632 (12 for 19) with four homers against the Giants this year.
However, he won’t have Mark DeRosa to protect him tonight. The new acquisition was diagnosed with a sprained tendon in his left wrist on Wednesday, a day after he injured hit swinging a bat. He will just miss a few days.
“It’s a huge relief,” DeRosa said. When you hear a pop and when it’s in one of those small tendons and joints and stuff like that, you never know.”

DeRosa is 0-for-9 in three games since joining the team Sunday from the Cleveland Indians.
As for the Giants, they went 17-10 in June after a 15-14 May, the first time since Aug.-Sept. 2004 that they’ve enjoyed back-to-back winning months. The offense is coming to life, with the Giants hitting .305 (67-for-220) and averaging six runs in their last six games.
Tonight concludes a 10-game road trip, and San Francisco starts Barry Zito (4-7, 4.55). He pitched well last time out against Milwaukee but was battered around a bit in his last start against the Cards, allowing three runs and 10 hits in 6 2/3 innings. Zito is 0-3 with a 4.86 ERA against the Cardinals in three outings since signing with the Giants in 2007.
Pujols is 5-for-9 with two home runs and eight RBIs against Zito. The Giants are 1-16 in Zito’s last 17 starts vs. National League Central.
The Cards counter with Todd Wellemeyer (6-7, 5.68). He has given up at least four earned runs in eight of his 16 starts and might be close to losing his spot in the rotation. The right-hander is 1-2 with a 7.18 ERA over his last five starts, and opponents are hitting .349 against him.
