At least four masked and armed men robbed an international poker tournament in Berlin, Germany on Saturday for more than $136,000, and German police said the four men remained at large Sunday.

A police spokesman in Berlin said four men wearing black motorcycle masks entered the Grand Hyatt Berlin, a fashionable downtown hotel, at about 2:15 p.m. Saturday, where they threatened a cashier with pistols and a machete, while stuffing several bags with cash. The Grand Hyatt declined requests for comment.

A security staff member was lightly wounded after trying to hold down one of the men, police said in a statement. The European Poker Tour, which organized the tournament, confirmed the robbery in a video statement on its Web site.

“An armed robbery took place today,” it said. “Nobody was seriously injured. Most events restarted within a few hours; the $1,000 side event was canceled,” it said.

Kirsty Thompson, a tour spokeswoman, said the European Poker Tour works closely with all its venues to ensure that appropriate security is in place at all the events.

“We will continue to do so going forward, and step up efforts even further after this incident,” Thompson said.

Future tournaments will continue as planned. Police officials said the robbers appeared to be less than professional. Detectives said they are reviewing video of the heist, which they said shows at least one robber who failed to wear gloves.

It’s nothing but a lshtue. The exact same game of poker sanctioned by the state gaming commission would be legal, but if you opened your garage to poker tournaments and the house (you) made money, then it would be illegal.
