The term ‘wardrobe malfunction’ refers to an “accidental instance of indecent exposure of intimate parts.” Note that this is different from flashing, which implies a deliberate exposure or your goodies.

There has been a long history of such accidents, but the term itself was coined in late 2000s.

The first reported instance of wardrobe malfunction occurred on The Price Is Right in 1977. It involved a contestant named Yolanda Bowsley, who, upon hearing ‘COME ONE DOWN’, ran down the stairs while her tube top decided to come down as well.
