An arrest has been made and second-degree murder charges filed in the case of the hit-and-run accident that took the life of American Idol hopeful Alexis Cohen early Saturday morning.

Daniel Bark, 23, of Tom’s River, N.J., was taken into custody Sunday at 6 p.m. on charges of causing the 25-year-old Cohen’s death by reckless driving and leaving the scene of the accident in his 2005 Mitsubishi Gallant, reports New York’s Daily News.

Bark’s bail was set at $35,000. He is being held at the Ocean County Jail and could face 10 to 15 years in prison, if convicted, say authorities.

An autopsy performed on Cohen Saturday afternoon by the office of the Ocean County Medical Examiner found multiple traumatic chest and abdominal injuries, and a closed head injury, says Deputy Chief Michael Mohel of the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office.
