650-Pound Virgin, ex-fatty looks for love, premiers today
Once morbidly obese, David Smith dropped 410 pounds with the help of his personal trainer — now he’s looking for a girl.
The remarkable story of how Smith, now 32, lost the weight in just 26 months without gastric bypass surgery is the subject of a new TLC documentary. The weight loss left behind great folds and bags of excess skin that had to be removed over the course of more than a year in a series of three operations. Surgeons have removed approximately 30 pounds of excess skin from David, who still needs additional surgeries.
“It’s like night and day. I’ve gone from being a laughingstock to having girls make googly eyes at me,” he explains. “I still have to muster up the courage to talk to girls.”
He said, “Instead of being a dud, I want to be a stud…”
The 650-Pound Virgin premieres Today, July 12, at 10 PM on TLC.
